Patty Mooney Produces World’s First Instructional Massage Video, “Massage For Relaxation”

Patty’s determination, perseverance and innovation came forth strongly in the mid-1980’s when she and co-producer Mark Schulze produced some special-interest home videos that were the first of their kind.  Patty’s passion for massage (she was a massage technician early in her career) was illuminated in an instructional video she produced called “Massage For Relaxation” which you may learn more about on Wikipedia.

Patty Mooney, An Educational Video Pioneer

Other titles that followed which Video Producers Mark Schulze and Patty Mooney co-produced were “The Great Mountain Biking Video,” “Ultimate Mountain Biking,” and “Battle At Durango” which focused on mountain biking, which is a sport Patty and Mark have now shared since 1986.

Patty Mooney and Her Passion for Mountain Biking

Patty Mooney has ridden treacherous mountain-bike trails all over the world.  She rode the Himalayas (was among the first westerners to be allowed into Sikkim where they participated in the First Ever Himalayan Mountain Bike Rally in 1993). In Costa Rica she was a member in a small group of riders who made a Descent into the Turrialba Volcano in Costa Rica and then on the bottom of the ocean as seen on Real TV. After this underwater mountain biking extravaganza, Patty delivered an underwater peace sign in a Molson Beer Commercial.  She has mountain biked in Whistler, Canada; Moab, Utah; Mt. Orohena, Tahiti; the Matterhorn, Zermatt, Switzerland; the Flinders Ranges of Australia; Mt. Olympus, Greece; Mt. Snowdon, Wales; and a trail near Reichenbach Falls where Sherlock Holmes was shoved to his death by Moriarty (of course Sherlock was later resurrected after Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was pressured by fans). At the age of 67, she handily won a 20-mile grueling Sagebrush Safari mountain bike race in 2023.

Full Cycle: A World Odyssey

All of these locations were featured in a mountain-bike video title called “Full Cycle: A World Odyssey” (see Wikipedia)  Patty still rides the local trails of San Diego, even now that both knees have been replaced.  So you can see that Patty’s adventurous spirit has taken her to places that not many mortals would attempt to go.

Award-Winning Short Films

Patty recently edited a film called “Golden Hour:  First Mt. Everest Mountain Bike Rally,” based on poems she wrote when she participated as one of six mountain bikers in the rally in 1993.

Patty also enjoys practicing philanthropy via her many talents.  She produced, shot and edited “Peace Out San Diego” about San Diego’s peace movement, “Black Black Blood” a music video about the 2010 Gulf Oil Catastrophe,  “Small Acts of Kindness” and “The Invisible Ones: Homeless Combat Veterans”.

Poet-Filmmaker of San Diego

Amazing to work with

Mark and Patty have been amazing to work with. Being an out-of-towner, Mark made sure we had everything that we needed for the shoot to go by without a hitch. He even recommended a few places that we should check out while we were in town. I look forward to coming back to San Diego next year to work with these wonderful folks!

I wouldn't trust anyone else!

Patty and Mark, aka Crystal Pyramid Productions, are consummate professionals and the finest videographers around. I’ve been working in the entertainment industry for decades and I’ve never met a more talented and compassionate team. They have the highest degree of technical knowledge, expertise and skill, and they take great care with their subjects, telling the story in the most effective way possible. I first encountered their skills when Inside Edition sent them out to film a story with which I was involved. They were extremely helpful during the shoot, and yet also managed to be unobtrusive when appropriate. The footage they created was extraordinary. When Inside Edition decided to do a follow up on the story, I insisted they hire Crystal Pyramid to film it once again. Simply put, I wouldn’t trust anyone else!

I recommend them to everyone

Mark and Patty are hands down two of the best videographers I’ve had the pleasure of working with. They made very efficient use of time and helped make it an extremely fun experience for the whole team. The level of skill and dedication to getting the right angle, perfect lighting, and making sure that we had ample takes to provide editing a lot of options to choose from helped ease any concerns that we may have had. When it was all done and said, I thought we did a great job of capturing our company culture and they are officially extended members of the ICM and TCG family! I look forward to working with Crystal Pyramid again very soon and recommend them to everyone. Thanks again for a wonderful experience!

Always a pleasure

It’s always a pleasure working with Mark and Patty. It’s reassuring to know that I’m in good hands no matter what might come up. At the last minute I found out our event planner had not ordered a number of items for our shoot. I asked them where I might find the stuff in San Diego. They took care of everything themselves! Also, our schedule changed two days before the shoot – no problem! They made all the necessary adjustments and the shoot went off without a hitch. Mark also introduced me to some new lights and we are now thinking of upgrading our sets with them. I love how Mark always refers to a shoot as : we’re having fun, playing! What a great attitude! Thanks Mark and Patty!
